ROOF OIL REJUVENATION SPECIAL!
SAVE THOUSANDS!
Sorry guys. It’s a scam. I know, I know. You really wanted to believe it was going to save you thousands of dollars by not having to replace your roof with new. But, just as the old saying goes, if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is. Slow down. Look closer.
The truth; once an asphalt shingle matting dries out, it creates hundreds of thousands of microscopic cracks within the matting. You can lather all the oil you want on it. It will not matter. The damage has already been done and is irreversible. Although applying some oils can make some roofs a little more pliable making them a little easier to work with during a repair, it in no way is capable of magically rejuvenating your entire roof back to its youth, adding years of life. This is a smoke and mirrors sales trick. Do not be fooled.
There is some slimy genius behind the roof oil tactic though and we are going to explain in detail exactly how this scam works and how so many are fooled by it so frequently.
Welcome and thank you for visiting HonestRoof.com. This is yet another effort from Team Honest to bring truth back to the roofing industry and hopefully save you thousands of dollars of headaches in the process.
Roof oil scams! We received hundreds of calls in 2024 with homeowners complaining that their newly oiled roofs were still leaking and shingles were still blowing off in the wind. Although no surprise to us, this was apparently shocking to most homeowners. Exactly how they believed spraying oil on their roof was somehow going to magically repair it was puzzling to us and worthy of our investigation.
After diving deep into the world of roof oils, it became immediately clear to us that there was some evil genius behind this tactic.
First, it gets you to immediately stop looking at all other contractors. Any tactic that gets a customer to stop looking at the competitors is a guaranteed way to sell more jobs.
The second is Price!
If you gather three estimates and two estimates have prices ranging between $10,000 to $15,000 for replacing the entire roof. But, the third guy says he can rejuvenate your roof instead of replacing it, for only $4,000 to $5,000 and even warranty the roof for the next 10 to 15 years!! This is simply an offer too good to pass up! Right?!
What homeowners didn’t realize is they were paying for years worth of warranty repairs all upfront. But these charges are being disguised as rejuvenation oil treatments.
Out of the $4,000-$5,000 paid to the oil contractor to spray the roof, the true cost to the contractor was only $250 to $500 maximum for the cost of the oil and the labor to spray it on.
This left $3500 or more in pure profit for the contractor or if needed used to doctor your roof along for a few more years, until you inevitably agree to replace the entire roof with new.
See what happened? This tactic got you to stop looking at the competitors, got you to focus on a cheaper price and even got you to pay for thousands of dollars of repairs upfront.
By the time homeowners realized they had been duped and the roof oils were not working, they were forced to continue to use the snake oil contractor because of the promised warranty and the thousands paid to them. Never wanting to face the loss or the fact they had been scammed.
But HonestRoof.com! They had a lot of good reviews and no complaints online! How could this be?
Because homeowners don’t want to risk losing the warranty or face the fact they paid thousands of dollars for nothing. Leaving a one star review could upset the contractor which may mean they won’t return to honor their warranty.
Instead of sharing their negative experience for all to see, they’re going to continue to call the snake oil company for any roof warranty issues in an attempt to get something out of the thousands they paid them.
This type of trap scam, similar to other scams of its kind, are responsible for millions of dollars in losses each year. One of the most talked about similar to the roof oil trap was the fake wine collection scam that was allowed to continue for decades because no one wanted to accept the loss.
Collectors would purchase the fake expensive wine collection online. Then upon delivery and discovery the labels had been switched, they would immediately sell that collection to someone else to avoid the loss. Thus, allowing the scam to continue.
Unfortunately, there is no way to bring a roof back to life. Once a shingle reaches a certain age, there is no going back. However, there is good news. There is no reason to attempt to rejuvenate your entire roof. We never recommend spending any money on a roof unless you are forced to do so. By forced, we mean you have an active leak causing damage inside the home. If that is the case, only fix what is needed to stop the leak. Our cost to repair a few missing shingles or a leak or two is only $200 to $500 and is guaranteed for life. The cost to rejuvenate your roof with oils is $4,000 to $5,000 and is 100% guaranteed to “not work.”
There is no need to spend money for repairs throughout the entire roof when only one spot is leaking. If you feel you need to replace the entire roof but do not have the money to do so at the time, then do nothing until you have the money to do so.
Throwing away thousands of dollars on a temporary rejuvenation is money that could have gone into a permanent replacement of the entire roof.
Do not be fooled. Slow down. Always demand written estimates for comparison on your own time and never feel rushed to hire for any reason.
